Donald Trump sues E. Jean Carroll for defamation

After a jury found that he sexually abused the former magazine columnist and defamed her, Donald Trump has filed a defamation lawsuit against E. Jean Carroll.

In a counter case recorded Tuesday night, Trump charges that Carroll criticized him when she showed up on CNN the morning after the jury granted her $5 million in penalties. Carroll was gotten some information about the decision finding Trump physically manhandled Carroll yet didn't assault her as she claimed. Carroll replied, "Yes, he did."

“Donald Trump again argues, contrary to both logic and fact, that he was exonerated by a jury that found that he sexually abused E. Jean Carroll,” Carroll's attorney Roberta Kaplan said in a statement in response to the new claim.

"Trump's filing is therefore nothing more than his latest effort to delay accountability for what a jury has already found to be his defamation of E. Jean Carroll," she added. In any case, regardless of whether he prefers it, that responsibility is coming very soon.

The counter case is the most recent legitimate salvo in a long term fight in court among Trump and Carroll. Carroll filed her first defamation lawsuit against Trump in 2019 after he denied her claim that he raped her in the Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in the middle of the 1990s. Trump claimed that Carroll wasn't his type and that he didn't know her.

Under a New York law that allowed survivors of sexual assault to file civil lawsuits within a year, regardless of when the assault occurred, she filed a second lawsuit against him the previous year. Trump has moved for another preliminary.

The 2019 slander claim is planned to go to preliminary one year from now, despite the fact that there are as yet a few legitimate issues remarkable. Carroll is looking for more than $10 million in punitive fees all things considered to some degree since Trump rehashed proclamations the jury viewed as disparaging after the decision via web-based entertainment and at a CNN municipal center.
